If you have the ball, moving towards the defender will help you push past them. If you don’t have the ball, moving away from the defenders will help open the field more. The substitution zone is the area directly in front of each team’s bench. In futsal, however, you can have as many substitutions as you like, as long as they’re made in the substitution zone.

A regulation soccer ball is a size 5, which is about 27–28 inches (69–71 cm) in circumference. Futsal is played with a size 4 ball, which has a 25–26 inches (64–66 cm) circumference.The smaller ball is a little heavier and has less bounce, making it a better option for playing indoors. A direct free kick can be awarded to the opposing team if a player succeeds or attempts to kick or trip an opponent, jumps, charges or pushes an opponent, or strikes or attempts to strike an opponent. Although the game quickly gained popularity the rules of Futsal were not uniform and it wasn’t until 1956 that Luiz de Oliveira of São Paulo wrote the Book of Rules of Futsal. The rules were then adopted on an international level. Today the official rules of Futsal are governed by FIFA.

Futsal

Pick one player on each team to act as the goalkeeper. Some players are known as ‘Universal’ and can fill any of the roles. The two most important governing bodies of futsal are the Asociación Mundial de Fútsal and Fédération Internationale de Football Association .

You should never stay in one place for more than 3 minutes at a time. It can be hard to find a place to move to, but when one of your teammates moves, you can move where they were just standing.

If the title-holders’ association is among the top three-ranked associations, the 4th ranked association is also entitled to enter a second team. The 2023–24 UEFA Futsal Champions League is the 38th edition of Europe’s premier club futsal tournament, and the 23rd edition organized by UEFA. It is also the sixth edition since the tournament was rebranded from “UEFA Futsal Cup” to UEFA Futsal Champions League. Futsal places a large emphasis on technical skill in high pressure situations which can be translated into the outdoor game. A substitute player is permitted to come on two minutes after a teammate has been sent off, unless a goal is scored before the end of the two minutes. If a team with more players scores against a team with fewer players, another player can be added to the team with an inferior number of players. If the teams are equal when the goal is scored or if the team with fewer players scores, both teams remain with the same number of players. The match is controlled by the referee, who enforces the Laws of the Game, and the first referee is the only one who can legally abandon the match because of interference from outside the field.
